Engineering Manager

About this role

TechCorp Inc is scaling its platform engineering division and looking for an Engineering Manager to own a team of 8–12 backend and infra engineers across two squads. This role sits at the intersection of people, process, and technical strategy.

You'll define how your squads plan and ship — from sprint structures to incident response to hiring pipelines. You're expected to grow engineers, remove blockers, and maintain a high technical bar across code review, architecture reviews, and on-call.

We run a fully distributed team across 4 time zones. You'll need strong async communication habits and the ability to build culture without co-location.

What we're looking for

• ✓2+ years as an Engineering Manager with a team of 6 or more direct reports
• ✓Strong technical background — you can review architecture decisions and spot tradeoffs
• ✓Experience running distributed teams across time zones with async-first processes
• ✓Track record of growing engineers from junior to senior and managing performance conversations
• ✓Familiarity with Java or TypeScript backend systems at scale
• ✓Bonus: experience in SaaS platform with multi-tenant architecture
