Head of Engineering

About this role

GCC India is the Indian engineering hub for a listed US tech company with $2B ARR. The Head of Engineering role leads a 120-person engineering organisation spanning 4 product divisions, reporting to the Global CTO.

You'll own hiring strategy, engineering culture, technical standards, and the performance management system for the entire India engineering organisation. You'll partner with the 4 VP-level engineering leads in the US to align roadmaps, surface India-based priorities, and ensure the GCC operates as a genuine centre of excellence rather than a cost centre.

This is a senior leadership role with direct P&L visibility. You'll manage a senior leadership team of 6 (4 engineering directors, 1 head of infra, 1 head of data) and present quarterly to the global CTO on org health and delivery performance.

What we're looking for

• ✓12+ years in engineering with 4+ years in VP/Head of Engineering level roles
• ✓Proven track record managing organisations of 80+ engineers across multiple product areas
• ✓Experience in a GCC, MNC, or matrixed global organisation — you understand how to operate effectively with a distributed headquarters
• ✓Strong executive communication skills; you can present to a global board without a translator
• ✓Deep understanding of engineering culture, talent retention, and building high-performance teams in India
• ✓Bonus: experience scaling a GCC from 80 to 200+ engineers; Indian market compensation benchmarking experience
